Remove Any Carpet Stains - Solutions for more than 35 stains

Eric Wilson • Apr 03, 2023
Scrape off any excess solids with a spoon or a butter knife as soon as possible so your cleanable spill doesn't turn into a permanent stain.

Use a clean, white, absorbent cloth and blot the stain (blot, never rub) from the outside in. Repeat until the stain no longer transfers to the cloth. A trick to thoroughly dry the treated area is to cover the damp area with a thick layer of cloth or paper towels (a half inch or so). Place a heavy object(s) on to of the cloths to weigh them down. Change until dry.

For detailed and effective spot removal, use the following key for solutions to a variety of staining substances. Used in the sequence recommended.

1. Key:
2. Cold Water
3. Detergent Solution: Mix one tablespoon of clear dishwashing liquid with a cup of warm (not hot) water.
4. Ammonia Solution: Mix one tablespoon of clear household ammonia (3% solution) with 1/2 cup of water.
5. Solvent: A dry cleaning solvent (available at hardware stores).
6. Ice: Chill with ice cubes in a plastic bag. Shatter residue, pick or scrape off and vacuum.
7. Vinegar Solution: Mix 1/3 cup of white vinegar with 2/3 cup of water.
8. Warm Water (not hot)
